My reason for giving up smoking

Ok, so 2018 brings a new job opportunity for me and I have decided I shall start my new career as a NON smoker. I type this as I casually light a cigarette - as soon as I think about stopping I seem to light up (there is no logical reason for this). REASONS: - I cringe when thinking about being in a non smoking environment and being that one person who walks to the end of the building to "light up". - I hate the fact that smoking has taken such a grip of my life and controls me. - I have a shortness of breath when I go to bed (THAT can't be healthy) - Numbness in my left hand (little finger), which just screams poor circulation. - Looking 100 while I am in my 40's - Burning money I don't have, or could be better spent on fresh fruit. So, if anyone has any tips or advice, I would surely appreciate it. I'm an intelligent person who knows I need to give up..... however, having said that, can justify just another cigarette in a heartbeat. It does not help that I am married to a smoker, and all my friends smoke.... 2018 will see a new healthier me, I just need to shake this disgusting habit once and for all.

You should be so proud of yourself! There are some hotlines you can call to get help to stop smoking. I'm sure there are websites too. You will eventually feel so much better when you quit. And if you happen to give into temptation, remember there is no shame in having to start over again.

Thanks for the support, I figure if I start the new job as a non smoker I would stand a chance of stopping for good. It becomes a habit of going out at tea breaks etc - so will not START that habit in a new environment. Its like your (my) mind becomes conditioned to smoke at certain times (ie: as soon as you get out of a building etc). The non smoking rules actually seem to make you smoke more.
