Why overseas workers still wants to go to UAE and why Tourists still visit UAE

This country have an awful law where women who reports they got raped are being jailed because extra marital sex is a crime. It is not a rape victim's fault she got raped , The cops should jail the rapist and not the victim. They had jailed female tourist who got raped and reported to the police they got raped because of their backwards law. UAE is suppose to be the most open mind Islamic Middle eastern country yet they have this law. It is like their way to lower the rape cases, make the victims shut up. It makes me wonder why overseas workers and tourists want to visit a country with backwards law.

I am with @topffer on this. I do not know many Europeans who went to visit UAE, only those who were obliged for work reasons.

My sister r worked there once and they usually give white people managerial roles while they put Asians in Slave labor roles.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I have seen a document on YouTube, some Indian women went there hoping for a good salary and they ended up in slavery.

@LadyDuck My sister prefered living in Australia. They gave her citizenship for her skills in just a year. She thinks Dubai looks down on Asians.

It is not UAE, but Saudi Arab which have such law. Although UAE an islamic country, still there is more openness.

@topffer Not that harsh in UAE, there are 7 kingdoms. Sharia is worst than just about woman issue.

@yugocean I just checked and it is true, their criminal law is issued from British and Roman laws. Only the civil law is sharia. I made an error. Thank you to have rectified.

I do not think that many European tourists are visiting the UAE, except to transfer from one plane to another plane. There is a tourist visa only since 2015 with the EU, it is expensive, and I do not know any people wanting to do their shopping in Dubai, even if it is cheap.

Eastern Europeans are the Europeans who usually works there. Asians from 3rd world countries are usually majority of their foreign workers.

Well, desperation to get away from poverty and provide money for the family and kids. Unfortunately they fall prey mostly to Illegal recruiters and abusive employers.
