Do you give a gift during Christmas, to your postal carrier or trash man?

I never think about it, but since I read the post in Yahoo! Answers, about this very subject, I find that there are lots of very good and generous folk who actually do give something nice to the men who carry our mail and who pick up our extra trash at Christmas time.
Read the article below for more.
Garbage & recycling staff, mail delivery people, security guard, parking lot attendants... for what industries do you provide gifts during the holidays? If you gift cash or a gift card, how much do you give them?

We give a Walmart gift card to our mail carrier. She goes out of her way at times and we want her to know we appreciate her.

Most of the time, I give a small amount of money to the garbage men who never fails to assist me in getting my garbage out of our home. Sometimes, when I am short on my budget, I give them food or cold water to quench their thirst.
I feel positively that they like to do their job more when they are being given a token of appreciation because I know their salary may not be enough for their everyday expenses. It won't hurt to share them our blessings.

That is exactly why it is a good thing to do this. And of course, Do unto others as the Golden Rule says.

Actually, I have not often given anything but small talk to my mail carriers, like, "Why do you bend all my mail?" LOL

I haven't, but I have thought about it. I am not really crazy about my mail person..because if she has a package for me she brings it up and leaves the other mail in the box..huh? Maybe if I have some extra cookies I will leave some for her.

If it turns out from this you get better service, it will prove worth while to give a few cookies. A friend of mine gave cookies to an area pawn shop and got better luck finding good DVD and Blu Ray Movies to buy at nearly a buck or two each.

I would not even bother to order a magazine or book online. I would rather just visit the local library, check out a few magazines and books and take them home. As for correspondence, I seldom write any more. I do however, call my family a little. I am sorry your mail service isn't any good for you in your apartments. That is understandable as to you not wanting to give anything, cause you have to get good service to even feel like handing a soda pop to a mail carrier on a hot summer day, when they leave your mail on the ground in the rain in your next door neighbor's yard for 2 days. LOL

In our case, it's the same. Every other day it's always a new person. I think we are on the US Postal Service's practice route and they are all newbies anyway. LOL

So they don't celebrate Christmas, I get that. It took me some time to figure it out. Here is a link that explains it.

@peachpurple , Well it says a lot about our foreign relations with those types of people from a political and social standpoint, as being divided by religious dogma can make it nearly impossible to achieve common ground with those of countries that both do not relate to Western philosophy but tend to oppose us on other levels as well as we do them on certain moral and philosophical levels thus creating unwelcome difficulties in better future relations in certain areas of both government and commerce.

I do give a gift to my postal carrier. He is responsible for delivering my mail and sometimes important packages like my medication so if I find him efficient and friendly I do indeed tip him.

Oh I think this service is limited in US. It would be great if it were here too. Thank you! And happy Merry Christmas!
Thank you!

@creativeaashish , We are. Thanks for asking. The weather might take a turn so I am on the look out for more rain, not snow or ice so I am glad for that.
