Favorite "New" Songs #4 - "The Emperor's New Clothes"

She is definitely not new to my music countdowns, as she has popped up a couple times in various series'. I am counting down my favorite songs with "new" in the title, and we are at #4: "The Emperor's New Clothes" by Sinead O'Connor.
Irish vocalist Sinead O'Connor is best known to the masses for her smash hit cover of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U," from her 1990 album, I Do Not Want what I Haven't Got.
There was more to that fine album, however. "The Emperor's New Clothes," for instance, was a fairly successful single in it's own right. It also peaked at #1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart, and charted in a total of ten countries, mostly reaching the twenty's, although it did hit Top 10 status in both Ireland and Italy.
(Fun Fact That I Just Learned: This year, Sinead legally changed her name to Magda Davitt.)

She is so talented, it's a shame she's seemingly sabotaged her own career with the controversial moves. (Then again, is it a gender gap thing, because we accept things that she's done [and worse]) from male rockers....)

She does have a controversial image, but I don't think most people that don't like her know about all the charitable stuff that she does.

I'm surprised you never heard "Nothing Compares 2 U." It was a huge hit. You can totally tell Prince wrote it.

I know a lot of people don't like her because of her image. She's got a great voice, though.
