Vintage Linda Ronstadt performances: "Lovesick Blues" (1970)

“Playboy After Dark” was a syndicated variety show hosted by Hugh Hefner himself and lasted 48 episodes (1969-70). The environment was cool hipster led by the tuxedo clad pipe smoking Hef. Linda guested on the program several times and her performance of “Lovesick Blues” was either the April 7, 1970 or June 9, 1970 show. “Lovesick Blues” was written by Cliff Friend and Irving Mills for the 1922 Broadway musical “Oh, Ernest.” Emmett Miller was the first to record it in 1928. The song is most famously associated with Hank Williams whose cover reached #1. Linda recorded the song during her country period and appears on the “Silk Purse” album. She gets into it belting belting out the words while Hef and his then main squeeze Barbi Binton look on.

Everyone mentioned here was on Hee Haw at some point: Linda and Hef were guests, and Barbi was a “Hee Haw honey.”

I am from different culture, so kind of I like some of her other numbers. Here is one of my favorites.
