"Be productive" he said. What was he referring to?

Before my hubby left for work today he told me to "be productive." I am not really sure what he was referring to exactly because he wasn't specific.
Maybe he meant that in terms of searching for work online and sending out resumes, which is what I should start doing again. I didn't do that though.
Instead, I updated my Excel file with all the restaurants we went to, their locations, and cuisine type. And I also updated another Excel file with his salary data for last year.
Now I have to go eat because I am very hungry. There really isn't anything to eat. Have to see what I can find that can be prepared quick.
And then I have to go to the store to pick up something for dinner and to stock the fridge with. It's pretty empty. Except that I don't drive and my husband works till 9pm today, so I will have to carry all those bags on foot. At least the store is about twelve minutes from my house, which isn't bad. Still, all those bags are not easy to carry. If only he had a 9-5 job instead of selling cars for a living.

the supermarket here is about 12 minutes when I walk towards it. It is much longer when I come back. I bought a small cart with 2 wheels to put the bags with food. That made a difference.

Perhaps, I should get one of those for myself. But I think major shopping should be done together. And I should only go on small shopping trips. We do that but it doesn't always happen because of his work schedule.

@MALUSE Specially if, like it happens to me, I go for some bread and end up with things that were not in my list

I am sure he meant it as a kick starter of the day, that you should finish up all the stuff whatever you are having in your mind ... Kind of a To Do List

@lovebuglena of course they were... As long as the mind stays busy in something, all the work you do is productive

Sorry that you have to carry all those bags and walk home. I usually do my grocery shopping during the weekend and make sure I have enough for at least the entire week.

I try to wait for my husband before going shopping if I know that we need to get a lot of things. However, sometimes because of his work schedule if I wait for him I may not get any shopping done because the store will be closed by the time he gets home. Then, I have no choice but to go by myself and drag all those heavy bags.

12 minutes can feel a lot longer when you are carrying heavy bags.

For sure. There are enough times where I have to put the bags down, rest a few seconds, and then pick them up and continue walking. Would have been great if I drove. But even if I did, there is only one car and he uses it all the time, so it wouldn't make a difference. I'd still end up walking with all those bags.

I read that you told someone else you do not take cabs alone. I know they can be costly as well. I have two stores I can go to. One is a thirty minute walk, most of which is through my neighborhood. The other is about the same, but takes longer because of the curvy road.
Could you get a cheap bike off of craigslist for your grocery trips?
As for what he meant by that.. Well I tend to think he meant productive in finding a job,

Presently, I have car anxiety/panic and I can't get in the car with anybody. Exception I make is my husband and my dad. And even getting in the car with them is not anxiety/panic free. But getting into cabs or uber, etc. no way! And not just because of my car anxiety/panic thing but because of a few bad experiences. The way they drive, I can't be in the car with them...
As for biking, I don't know how to ride a bike. And you can't really do big shopping on a bike anyway. Nowhere to put all those bags.

That's okay, you can go shopping when your husband is in the house. Although you can go pn offday.

Sometimes I can't rely on him because of his work schedule and have to do the shopping myself or it doesn't get done.
