Yesterday, I downloaded and then printed a copy of the first pattern for the sock knitting club that I joined on New Year's Eve. The pattern is called 'Resfeber' Socks. The meaning of Resfeber is "the restless race of the travelers heart before the journey begins". The pattern was designed by Mina Philipp of Knitting Expat Designs. Mina is sponsoring the sock knitting club. I went to the yarn store today to purchase two different colors of yarn for the first sock project of the year. They are both Berroco's Ultra Alpaca Fine. One is 50/30/20 Peruvian Wool, Nylon, and Super Fine Alpaca. The other is 50/30/20 Superwash Wool, Nylon, and Super Fine Alpaca. The colors are numbered and not named so I don't know which color belongs to which yarn. I'll have to check the next time I go to the yarn store. Anyway, the colors are a nice shade of purple and a dark/medium shade of grey. After I get done playing on the computer, I'll have some tv and playing-with-yarn time. The accompanying photo shows the yarn and part of the cover page for the pattern.

I never tried to knit socks, my mother was very good in doing this.

I had always thought that knitting socks would be hard. I was intimidated by the thought of having to use anywhere from 3 to 5 double pointed needles. The first pair that I tried to make, I followed a pattern that was on a sock yarn sleeve. I followed it as best as I could and it didn't work out. So, I took a sock knitting class at the local yarn store. I was about 61 or 62 when I first knitted a pair of socks!

@LadyDuck There are lots of video tutorials on Youtube. One channel where I have found nice and easy ones for beginners is Joanne's Web. You would just have to keep watching different videos to see which ones you would be able to follow the easiest.

@bluerubymoon53 We have no classes to learn to knit here and my mother is no more. I had to ask her to show me until she could teach.

That sounds like an awesome club to be apart of!

The members will be receiving a new pattern every two months. That gives them plenty of time to get a pair completed before they start on the next pattern.

@bluerubymoon53 I love that idea! I wish I knew how to knit or even read a crochet pattern!

@Daelii There are lots of knitting and crocheting tutorials on YouTube. Start at the beginning with the very basic stitches and go from there. Takes some practice but you can do it.
