Dad's New Years Letter

Philippines
January 4, 2018 12:14am CST
I just can't believe that I got a mail from my Dad. We really haven't talk that much recently which gets me worried sometimes. Unfortunately, the letter he sent me doesn't make sense. I had to call my relative and then asked my mom about it. She said forget about it for a while because it's not important. Seriously, I would have wanted some old fatherly advice but what he gave me is some receipt he calls it a gift for my birthday or something. What do you do when you get a letter like this? do you throw it away?

there are people like that and I can relate myself, though I'm not so active in sending text or messaging through facebook or messenger but in my heart my children are the love of my life.

Perhaps he's getting dementia? Anyway, it shows you he was thinking of you. Why don't you call him or go to see him? He might like that.

Your mother must know about it since she asked you to forget about it. She is keeping something away from you.

Hello @allknowing well, maybe she wasn't expecting much about it which is why she wants me to forget it.

Your mother didn't offer any advice, maybe your father is not medically sound any longer or has lapses in memory. I would hang on to it for a while, it was sent for a reason and maybe you will find out down the road.

OMG, he really sent you some recipes for your birthday? BUT it is a good news that he begins the contact again. Are you going to reply with a few words (for example, a thank you note), to let him know that you don't reject him?

@Letranknight2015 why should he send you a receipt? That is odd OK. Can you see the date on it? (Perhaps he bought something and sent the things to you, and just want you to know that the things are on their way?)

Bonus is that he wrote you. Is there a possibility that he is getting dementia and that is why it didn't make sense?

I think you might want to hang on to it to find out someday what it was about. If he mailed it then it seems it must be important.

If it's a receipt of something, it could be money

That is quite weird to receive a receipt as a gift. But have you ever checked on the receipt? It might be something you should claim from the store, could it?
