In every article I have read about this, the title starts with asking why they are doing this. So far, I have not found an answer in the article. Who started this? Are there teenagers that are so bored and in of so much attention that they come up with something like this? This is deadly. It must taste horrible. Who would want to take up a dare like this? Is peer pressure that important?

@MsBooklover Such a shame. I don't know why someone would give a pod to a toddler. For toddlers and people with dementia that would fall in the category of murder or it should be.

@just4him Toddlers and those with dementia can find that sort of thing if they are not being watched over.

I heard about it, but didn't read it. People try to find things to do that are "cool" but very stupid.

That is true. Love attention even if it gets them in trouble or someone gets hurt.

I'd love to have an answer to those questions as well, and hope that he individual who did start this get the help he/she has been screaming so loudly to receive. This is beyond all comprehension.
I remember one time when my (now 22-year-old) son was a toddler), being awakened by him placing something in my hand and asking me if he could please have a piece of candy. But, we didn't have any candy in the house. So, I griped that "candy bar" as tightly as I could as I made a bee line for the kitchen cabinet to remove those Electrasol tablets from underneath the kitchen sink right away.
Even he thinks this Tide Pod Challenge is the stupidest thing these kids could ever be doing.

He was a toddler and didn't know any better. These are teenagers. They know better. They need to read or do something productive.
