How Often Do You Eat Bison Meat?

I'm not a vegetarian (yet) but I try to go at least two days a week without meat. I plan to eventually go meatless but it would be really hard to give up free range, grass-fed, organic bison meat. The difference between a cow hamburger and a bison hamburger is like night and day. There is just one store in my area that carried organic bison meat but they just stopped carrying it. I complained vigorously to the store manager but he just gave me the rote response that it was not his decision but rather the corporate head office. This was very sad for me. But now I'm thinking that maybe this is a sign for me. I've been stuck on 2 meatless days a week for a long time now. Maybe it's time to increase that number. Maybe I can get to 7 before long. I feel it would be good for me and the planet. (And certainly for the animals.) Of course it is hard to imagine living without eggs. I love eating eggs. At least we don't have to kill the chicken in order to get the egg. But then again the condition on chicken farms is downright deplorable. It's a conundrum for me. It's not easy to radically change a diet that one has been eating all one's life. That's why I'm doing it one day a week at a time. I gave up pork years ago. I feel that I can give up beef and chicken without too much struggle. But I always figured that bison meat would be the very last meat I'd give up. It is so wonderfully delicious and healthy. But now it is no longer available in my area so I guess the decision to give it up was made for me. No more bison stew. No more bison hamburgers. It's so sad.

I have been vegetarian for 16 years. While its not super easy when you get started you sure do get used to it. I never had bison meat while I did eat meat. Now the idea of eating meat of any kind turns my stomach. I still do eat cheese and eggs however.

Some day I hope to catch up to you. Maybe I can go meatless yet still eat cheese and eggs. Cheese.... I do love cheese. At least we don't have to kill the cow to make cheese. Thanks, @maezee for giving me some inspiration.

Bison meat is not available here, we do not even have bison here. I eat meat about once a week, I like fish, eggs, grains and vegetables.

I have never eten bison, though I've eaten deer, wild turkey, and elk. I just accept my hypocritical ways as an animlal lover and omnivore.
