I realized what a big brat I was as a kid

We always hear on the news or stories online about kids being bullied. So I try to recall a time when I was bullied at school. Yes there were those occasional petty teasings like how funny my surname sounded (cause it means "cold rice"). But apart from that, none. If anything, I was the bully. I wasn't the mean, physically abusive bully but I was definitely mean in my own way - verbally. Gossiped or bad mouthed anyone I didn't get a liking to or when I was jealous that they were richer, or prettier, or more athletic, or smarter.
I am not proud of who I was back then. I've made a few enemies in college as well because I was tactless. I wasn't the worst, but I definitely did things that a good girl shouldn't do. I am absolutely ashamed of things I've done that I shy away from reunions or gatherings for fear that they'd remember.
Now I've come a long way from being the brat that I was. Too extremely that my supervisor thought I am a very timid person that it comes across as underperforming (and nursing happens to be a very competitive profession)
I want to regain confidence without being the arrogant and bratty child that I was.
Were you the bully back then? Or the bullied?
Have you done awful things as a kid?
Did you change for the better or for worse?
Have you become the total opposite of who you were?

That's a very inherently good attitude. I wish I had always been the girl who never knew how to hurt people. I have since apologized to them but of course there are words said you can never ever take back anymore.

@LadyDuck Oh I know. I truly do now. But sometimes when you're a kid, you don't realize you're wrong? It's still good that I didn't really amass a big group of enemies. I was still a fairly good kid. I just had moments when I was really naughty.

I was a victim of bullying simply because of my mom's wrongful accusation against a student. That's how the nightmare began. I felt it stopped when I reach 3rd year high school. I think I became a quiet person because of that. But as of today I'm very happy with the life I have now a days. But I admit I was annoying to a certain girl before I become her JS prom partner, which I didn't realize until many years later. i wish I could apologize to that woman.

Oh wait, that sounds like a plot for a romantic teen novel
I remember a time when, not exactly bullied, but harassed by a boy classmate who took a fancy at me. Kinder 2 at that and he was already a kid version of Harvey Weinstein. Chased me all over the campus to steal a kiss. Horrible days.

@Theresaaiza What can I do the school wasn't COED before I graduated from college. Back then it was all boys school so I had no idea how to deal with girls that time. And I could tell now that was the worst thing I have done to that woman. nothing physical though.

@Letranknight2015 I came from an all girls school as well in high school. I always hear the same stigma on girls coming from exclusive schools - that they didn't know how to deal with having guys around.

I was never a bully or victim. Bullying was just not as frequent way back when.

I see. Well, that was a very fortunate time. I dunno if it's becoming more common these days, or people are just starting to finally pay attention to this problem and bring it to light.
