As I have been working as a freelancer, articles just seem to be getting boring. But I have stuck with it as it pays. My passion is fitness and nutrition, but jobs in that area are hard to find, good paying ones anyway. So, this morning I took a shower, got dressed, sat at my desk and automatically thought of surveys and myLOt. I love to talk, give my opinion and ask questions. As all of my friends from school days have fancy jobs with new homes and new cars. In the back of my mind I thought surveys and myLot would be embarrassing. But now I know that my surveys and myLot have been there all the while. faithfully waiting. Are you ever embarrassed to do such things?

It's always difficult and there is a big challenge to follow our dreams. However you will be satisfied by following what you want irrespective of the paycheck you receive.

But, if you keep seeing your friends who have fancy jobs, cars and houses, you will of course feel embarrassed. But it is advisable for you to not to compare yourself with others and be yourself.

I would take a paycut for my dream job. As long as I can make ends meet!

It's getting harder and harder making a living as a freelancer anymore. I try not to compare myself to everyone my age who are faring better than I am at life, but sometimes it's hard not to. I know my limitations, and I know I would never be able to handle the types of jobs or careers they are pursuing. Our life circumstances are all different. I have always wanted to be a writer, and I am writing for a living; it just doesn't always pay well, and isn't exactly the sort of writing I envisioned myself doing. But to answer your question, yes, sometimes I feel embarrassed when people who are doing better (financially) than I am ask what I do for a living, mainly because that then leads to the questions about income and callous remarks such as "you actually get PAID for doing that?" However, following my dreams and living life on my own terms is far more valuable to me than money.

@Spontaneo Yes. I am also having problems finding clients nowadays. I used to be able to land work through Upwork with no problem (back when they were oDesk.) Now no one ever responds to my proposals. And there's not much work available (at least that I have access to) on any of the content mill sites that I belong to.

@Srbageldog I have steady positions, I just needed to mix things up a bit. Instead of attempting to get in as many articles I can get in a day, I am having a field day with myLot and some survey work.

I don't know that I'm embarrassed about it but I guess I am a bit as I don't talk about it.

As long as you're going to survive with your daily expenses then follow your dreams. If your dreams make you happy and you won't regret choosing it might as well do it, life is too short, so do what you makes you happy.

Time is more valuable than money so I think spending your time doing something you enjoy is much more worth it.

No. But you still can reach your dream while having another job with good salary. Reaching you dreams doesn't mean you stop to get a job that will support your needs.

You should follow your passion is you get the opportunity to do so. However, some of us do make our own opportunities, don't we?
