Scott Behan and Matt Flanigan who are hunters who were in Sand Lake Wildlife Refuge in South Dakota found a yellow Labrador Retriever who appeared to be abandoned.
The incident happened on January 4, 2018 when the yellow Labrador was not wearing a name tag. looked undernourished and had sores on her body.
The yellow Labrador retriever had fetched a bird for the two hunters when they saw the poor dog who was likely abandoned by her previous owners.
The two hunters felt pity for the poor female dog who was lucky to be alive despite being in very cold weather.
After the Labrador retriever was taken to the lodge's headquarters, the dog was then taken to the Aberdeen Area Humane Society where she was named River.
River was taken care of the officials of the animal shelter by getting her a nice warm bed to sleep and recover from her wounds.
The animal shelter is going to have River who a dog around eight to 10 years of age in human terms for adoption to a loving family.

@Deepizzaguy I had a black lab many years ago. She was nice, but she loved to get away on her own and was gone as soon as the door opened. It was usually three hours before she came home from her excursion around town. She never got caught, which was always amazing. Always had to make certain we were alert to her whereabouts if we were going to open the door. Other than that, she was a very good dog.

I guess dogs must have guardian angels that rescue them from harm in some occasions
