Do you like group text?

Someone I know is having a birthday party and he sent out a mass text message to everyone with the invite and details. Now people are responding back to him and I get these messages, which is rather annoying. As soon as I delete someone's reply text, I get another and then another... I know it is easier to send a group text to everyone than having to send an SMS to each person individually, but then the back and forth interaction, which I don't participate in, comes to me. And if there is a lot of it, it is very annoying, especially if I am not participating in the conversation, or what they are talking about doesn't concern me. I've gotten group texts many a time and I don't like it. I'd disable the group text, but then if someone sends a group text that is meant for me as well I assume I won't get it. Do you like group text? Can you remove yourself from the group text after it comes to you?

What do you mean by "I never joined a group"? I was referring to group text on your cell phone.

@Icydoll Thanks for the clarification. I think before people send a group text they should ask if others are okay with that.

Not really a Fan of group Text... I find it annoying especially if it does not really pertain to me. People for a party like that would get better results I would think if it was more personable.

If I was throwing a party, and decided to invite people via text, I would send each one a separate text message. I would just copy and paste the same text to each one. And I would keep track on a piece of paper who I sent the message to, who I didn't send it to yet, and who replied and with a yes or a no.

At first I was going to say I didn't know what this was. Then I remembered both my daughter and sister has sent these before. I'm pretty sure the responder can send a reply back to the specific sender rather than including everyone it was sent to. I have a bottom of the line prepaid Verizon and that allows it. You can look to see whether your phone allows that too. It would be nice if the others could take a moment and do it that way instead.

@lovebuglena no, you wouldn't. If the sender would change that part of it. Most just reply to all, it's easier.

It seems the person is replying only to the other person but I still get the message.

I have an iPhone. I found nothing in that group text that would allow me to opt out of it. What I ended up doing was turning off Group text on my phone. But even after doing that I still got some text messages that were from this group text. They were communicating with each other, not with me. Very annoying.
