It Just Can't Be True!

About 3 or more years ago I ended up having to wear dentures. Well my first denture after a year of having it one of the front teeth popped out. I was out with a friend I hadn't seen in like 3 years and we were eating chicken wings well I went to take a bite and had this weird feeling in my mouth well I grabbed the hard thing and realized in my horror it was my tooth out of my denture. Well, I could have melted under the table but said to my friend; "Oh well theres nothing I can do about it right now. So I proceeded to finish my dinner. The dentist glued it back in and then a few months later I went to my Uncles Christmas party and there were a lot of people there. I went to bite into a candy and out popped my tooth. I very discreetly got up and went to the bathroom. Well I decided if I didn't smile no one would notice. I just couldn't believe my bad luck with the dentures. My Mother had hers for like 20 years and never had a problem. So now about a year ago I was able to have a new denture made. I thought O this is wonderful. Yeah right! After a few months my denture cracked. They sent it to the lab to fix it. I got it back and yet a few more months it cracks again, this time they put in metal mesh but apparently not close enough to the front of my plate where it keeps on cracking. So today I have an appointment to have another impression made for a new denture. Would all you Believers please pray for me that this denture would be the one that will hold up for me for many years? Has this happened to anyone else? Picture by bing.com

I have had upper dentures for years and lower ones more recently and have never had a problem like that with either. Maybe you should find out what lab your dentist uses and ask for a different one if you have new dentures made.

@peavey Thank you so much for your prayers I so appreciate them more than you could know as I know prayer works. God is listening and watching. El Roi means the God who sees!

@peavey I'm so glad you haven't had any problems with your dentures. If they don't hold up this time I will definitely ask for a new lab to do it. I feel if it splits a fourth time that they should set me up with new dentures. I am praying about it and have asked others to pray for me as I know God cares about details in our lives.

Poor you! That is indeed bad luck. Has the dentist offered an explanation?

@MALUSE The dentist its stumped he has no clue why they keep splitting. All I can do is pray God will bless the lab technician and he will put wire mesh where it splits. If your a Believer please pray for me on this!

@TheHorse Thanks for replying. I am so uncomfortable with my old denture as it fits me differently and makes me look different. One of the ladies at a Bible study I go to asked me if I got new dentures, ugh! Maybe I needed some humility! I am a bit nervous about going to church but worshipping God and hearing the Bible taught is more important to me than my pride.

@amadeo I'm so glad you didn't have any troubles with them. My mother had dentures for like 20 years. The family encouraged her to get new ones.

@Butchcass4 I am surprised there.Dentures get worn over the year and this will change her bite?

@Butchcass4 it must have been the material that they used there?

I haven't reached the denture stage yet. But maybe you could learn music, move to Kentucky, and sell yourself as a backwoods singer.

@TheHorse Actually I'm only 54, I had been punched in the mouth when I was 16 which at that time it loosened my front teeth. They tightened back up until a few years ago. I am learning music but don't want to move anywhere as I'm where God wants us at this point in our lives anyways! But thanks for the advice.

I'm sorry you're having such bad luck with your dentures. I don't wear my dentures. The bottom partial doesn't fit right and because of the way they were made, they aren't suitable for eating with. So I'm all but toothless as my dentures sit in their cup in the bathroom. Where they will stay. I hope your new set works well for you for many years to come.

@just4him I'm sorry your didn't work out for you. Sometimes I have to get my bottom partial denture adjusted but I don't mind that. I can't eat without my bottom plate. I so wished I had my own teeth but I will have to wait for heaven for that to happen. In the mean time I pray God will intervene and that I won't have any more problems with my denture. Thanks for your support!

@just4him Your prayers on this matter would be greatly appreciated! I can't wait to get them back as the pair I'm wearing don't fit me well and its noticeable as someone pointed out to me, ugh! I guess my feelings are hurt or I wouldn't mention it. Lord, please forgive me for my attitude I choose to forgive and not hold a grudge, she just happens to say whats on her mind. she is a very awesome woman of God and I love her. Have known her like 10 or more years and we've always gotten along. Satan just is trying to put a wedge between us and I choose Lord not to go that route. Please pray for me on this that I truly forgive her as I don't think she meant anything by it as I do look noticibly different! O it'll only be a week or so and I'll be back to my normal denture, the teeth on them are beautiful they don't even look like a denture, so praise God for that! I'm believing for a miracle for my denture in Jesus' name! I'm standing in faith and with all who are praying for me on this!

My Mum's dentures lasted for decades. I think your dentist needs to find a different lab if you continue to have trouble with your denture.

Unfortunately, sounds like they do not make them as sturdy as they used too, and they are so expensive. Let's hoping the 3rd one will be the Charm that will work for you

The fact that your tooth popped out means the quality of the dentures weren't that good. I hope that you find a great dentist who could make a good dentures. My mother-in-law are using two sets of dentures and though she lives in New Jersey, she would have her dentures made here in the Philippines whenever she visits every two years. Her reason: her dentist here makes a really great one that doesn't give her discomfort plus they're really durable.

@toniganzon I agree with you! They only had a one year warranty and it happened I believe around 2 years old or so. So glad your mother-in-law made out well!

I'm so sorry! I don't have dentures, but I've lost a crown. I hope that they know what they are doing this time around.

@Butchcass4 I'd try a different dentist or ask that a different lab make them. Something sounds fishy.
