Pain, pain go away, never come back another day!!

I went to another doctor (second one); still with the same complaint of throat pain. My throat hurts terribly and is painful to swallow. Now the pain is on the left side at the back of my throat. Yes, its already my second time with another doctor since the treatment with the first doctor did not seem to go well or so I think. You see, three weeks ago I was down with fever and bad throat. I went to see the doctor since my condition was not improving and I was given 7 days of antibiotics to be taken twice daily and an anti inflammatory/antiseptic gargle. To be fair my throat's pain lessened and in a few days was gone but on the 7th day (the last day of my antibiotics) I woke up again with a painful throat. This time the pain seems to be on the left side (the first time was on the right) My mother told me to go see another doctor and so I did. The doctor said it was pharyngitis. So now I'm on my first day of a seven day treatment again. I was given anti inflammatory meds and an oral spray solution. I hope this time it'll work. I was advised to not consume cold drinks, sweet foods, chocolates and other foods that may aggravate my throat further. I'm also gargling warm water with salt to help soothe my throat. I pray to God that my throat will be okay soon. It isn't really a good feeling to have a bad, painful throat.... Why is this condition hard to go away? Have any of you had the same experience?

I drink lemon juice with honey too. I also tried ginger brew. Yes, it gives temporary relief. Thanks!

@pitsipeahie you know what I just read to massage your throat it hurts but it relieves it. In my Mexican culture we massage the arms specially from the hand to the elbow part. Its like they popped and it make you want to throw up but it's good. Then you are good again. When lemos don't work I always popped them.

@pitsipeahie i used to get them a lot when i was younger. the tonsils aren't swollen, but it's hard to speak. on top of that, people would tease and say "bedroom voice" but it's really a struggle.

Thank you! I'll take some Vitamin C supplements, perhaps my immune system needs a boost.

I am not sure for the others. I usually gargle with a solution of lukewarm water with vinegar and salt. However, this is effective to a minor condition.

Thank you! I hope so too as I'm beginning to think why is it hard to go away??? The doctor has assured me though that its just pharyngitis and the throat needs time to heal and recover.

I do not believe that antibiotics are necessary if you have a pharyngitis. I hope the new doctor prescribed the right treatment.

I have chest pain when I drink cold water. I always remind myself never to drink any cold water ever ever otherwise I'll have a heart attack one day. What did the doctor say were the preventable measures for your pain?

I also suffer from my throat very often. A doctor gave me a receipt which helped me and you may try additionaly to the doctors treatment you received: daily at least one cup of pennyroyal mint with half lemmon squeezed into and two spoons of honey (if possible with eucaliptos, but others also help). It helps, too, if I am aphonic.

@pitsipeahie Yes, it is. In Spain and in Germany, you can buy it in the supermarkets. I suppose that in your country may exist it too.

I'm not familiar with pennyroyal mint. Is it something herbal? I do drink lemon juice or ginger brew though.
