A Sporty Kind of Weekend

Besides our granddaughter having a successful figure skating competition this weekend, there were some other sports going on involving our interests. Our little seven year old grandson had a very successful ice hockey game as goalie for his team. His team had a shut-out in an intermission ice hockey performance at West Point in the U.S. Military Academy. I, myself, completed an 18 hole golf game. That was so much fun, but don't dare ask my score! Finally, it was Super Bowl Sunday here. My team won, but my husband and sons called me a traitor. That game, out them all, really meant nothing to me. I just played a great game of tennis this morning. Who ever thought I'd be so in to sports??? Do you like sports? Do you participate in any?

What a successful sporty weekend! Your grandson must've felt so awesome - another proud moment! Wow, and you completely a golf game . . . I super stink at golf and have gotten many hole-in-nones . My son and I went to a Super Bowl party which was really a playdate for him . . . but for once I actually got into the game - it was pretty exciting considering I'm not a football person. And tennis too? You are just an athletic family there - there is nothing you guys can't do!! You know what sport I like . . . and hey, I have another post now about it .

I still stink at golf, but I kept throwing that little ball around. . Glad to hear you got into that football game. It was very exciting. I don't understand half of it, but then I married a football nut and have two football nut sons. Will be right over!!!

@DianneN At least you made it through a whole game - I might have hung up the club at the first hole . Do you guys have Super Bowl parties too? I don't know all the football stuff . . . I just know I wouldn't want to be tackled or dogpiled on !

@much2say We usually have or go to Super Bowl parties, and already have an invite for next year. We wanted to have time to ourselves that weekend, due to all the sports going on among my grandkids and us. It was a draining weekend for me!!!. I'm still learning some football mumbo jumbo. It goes in one ear and bursts out of the other! Lol!!!

I'm not really into team sports any more, I prefer individual activities. I love walking and riding my bike. I do love table tennis but I'm afraid I don't play it properly, I just play with my daughter or a friend and we basically try to keep it going as long as possible and keep the ball in play even if it bounces off the ceiling or the shelves... not a real game at all but surprisingly good exercise and it makes us laugh so much!

I love walking and riding my bike. I used to love playing table tennis with my boys until they got too good and beat me every time! Lol! I haven't done much golfing or tennis for years, but it's so much fun down here.

@Kandae11 Me, too! Besides, I have to wear a parka when watching my granddaughter or grandson on the ice. It is freezing cold there, even in the summer.

@DianneN Oh yes, I love watching that too. I admire dexterity on ice, skating is something I would never dream of doing - even if I lived in a different country. I would surely end up with broken bones.

I don't like sports at all to play or watch. I do like watching things like figure skating and gymnastics though but I don't have cable and never take the time for watching things anyway.

If my kids or grandkids (someday) are in sports I'll watch them then but I will likely be bored to tears and just there for moral support

I'm pretty active, but not what you would call sports. While my husband plays golf, I normally go horseback riding. I also take a yoga class twice a week, occasionally take a circuit weight-training class, and walk about 100 miles a month, often on the beach. My golf scores a pretty terrible, too, so I won't ask yours!

@DianneN - I have gotten so frustrated with golf a few times, I would have thrown my clubs in a lake if I played too often. I enjoy horseback riding much more. I'm taking these brain health classes from a local college now and learned that exercise is important, among other things. I'm going to write a series of posts about what I am learning in the classes. It is pretty fascinating.

I didn't watch the game, but I am very happy the Eagles won That's great about your grandson playing a shut out. Can't get better than that. I won't ask your golf score, but it has to be better than mine was the last time I played, which was in high school. I was terrible at that sport. I did okay with miniature golf though. I'm glad your tennis game was great. The only sport I'm into personally is swimming. Other than that, I enjoy watching the Packers play.

Many thanks! I'm still the worst golfer out there, but it's all for fun. I still love walking, riding my bike, and swimming the most. The rest is just for fun. However, I'm pretty competitive in tennis. I'm out to win! lol

@DianneN i think you play lawn tennis. that is the tennis played in the ground, whether clay, grass, or hard court. that is how tennis is termed. examples are the US open, Wimbledon, Australian open tennis. we also have the table tennis.
