I have been going through some old photos and came across this one of a dance band called the Evergreens. The sax player and keyboardist are husband and wife, the guitarist is the sax player’s brother and Vince is on drums. Later we owned a machinery business with the husband and wife.
We were living in Ravensthorpe at the time and they were the only dance band for miles around. They played almost every weekend and sometimes both Friday and Saturday nights. If we wanted a weekend off we had to book several months in advance. There was also a lot travelling involved but they’d all cram into one car.
We found a tape of some of their music the other day and now we’re putting it onto a CD. The Ravy Museum would like a copy for their archives. I’ve written about it before but once the band played until the wee hours of the morning and during the last dance Vince went to sleep and fell off his bar stool. Also – the pianist made all their lovely white coats.

Thanks. I had to scan it and it didn't work too well.

@JudyEv - They're there for posterity. Some kid might see it and decide to start a band. You never know.

I love it! Ah the days when bands would dress matching. What a fun memory

@JudyEv Ah yes, I like the dressed up look. Now it's jeans and t-shirts if you're lucky

That's a coincidence. The 'R' stand for 'Rex' and he is the saxophonist. His wife is Nancy and his brother Johnny. We met up with them all just a few weeks ago. We're going to do CDs for them too.

Wonder how that part of the band sounded when your husband fell off the stool.

They were very popular in their day. It's been good listening to the old dance tunes again.

It wasn't a famous band. They wouldn't have been known at all outside their own district.

That’s best you are putting the tape on cd and the museum wants a copy!
It has to be hard to not be able to do something he loved so much.
