And Then He Pooped His Pants

There was an elderly man sitting on a stool in the little bookstore section of our library, where they sell used books. I was browsing through the romance novel rack near where he was sitting, when all of a sudden the area started smelling like crap. At first I thought he may have farted, but the smell did not let up. It was so bad I had to walk away because it was gagging me. But he just sat there reading, as if nothing had happened. This is the second time in my life an older man has pooped himself in my presence while looking at books in public. The first time it was a little bald man in a brown suit squatting on the book aisle in the thrift shop. That guy hadn't been THAT old, so I don't know what his deal was. But that brings me to the question -- if a person is wearing an adult diaper, does that excuse them from using the restroom? I understand that they may not have control over their bodily functions, but surely he felt it in his pants and could smell it. It was bad enough that it cleared the area out and it continued to stink even after he finally wandered away. My sister works as a volunteer stocking books in the bookstore at the library, and she happened to be back there when the man pooped himself and also commented on it after he was gone. It was pretty obvious what he had done. I can't imagine ever pooping myself in public and then just going about my business like nothing had happened. The man could have at least gone to the bathroom to clean himself up instead of just sitting there in it. He was coherent enough to be at the library reading books, so surely he was capable of using the toilet.
