I woke up this morning and was full of cold....typical as am on holiday this week.
So I am having vitamin c drinks and having plenty of fluids ... but ... I wonder if there is something else I can try...
Do you have any tried and tested remedies for a common cold ?
Thank you
Atishooooo

Sorry but I don't have any quick solutions. My nose runs like a tap when I get a cold so I take cold and flu tablets which at least dries my nose up a bit.

@Traceyjayne I find it really hard to swallow tablets but I do take these because the alternative is worse. Honestly I get through dozens of hankies a day otherwise. Mostly I use toilet paper now if I have a cold.

I'm not much of a tablet person but am taking them at the moment

I have tried many remedies. Some help a bit but none that gets rid of the cold. I have been fortunate so far this year as I haven't gotten one yet.
When I get a cold, I take a vacation. I sleep more, avoid people, drink more water, eat light, watch comedies and in about 5 days I'm feeling better.

@Traceyjayne I have tried many things and this is best that works for me. I wish there was an easier solution but I haven't found it.

Put a little salt in a cup of warm water and gargle. It can help a sore throat. Hope you feel better soon!

                    *bless you*
I have a nasty cold too, but my half-term was last week so I had to go to work with a snotty nose and a fuzzy head. Sleep and rest, along with keeping up your fluid intake, is probably best. I do like a blackcurrant Lemsip when I'm feeling poorly.

not tried the blackcurrant lemsip ...although the vitamin c drinks I am having are blackcurrant ( due to the fact that with my fuzzy head I picked up the wrong ones ...)
