I can't make a burger as good as the ones sold at fast foods.

The chicken sandwich I ate today was an attempt by my wife to re-create one that we shared last week, bought from a Jack In The Box restaurant. There are things that go into making a burger, or a chicken sandwich at fast food places, like Jack in The Box and other great fast food chains that trumps the regular burger or chicken sandwich made at home.
They make these fast and consistent. They are paid to put the sandwiches together by a special set of ingredients, ways of preparation and they have to maintain this quality to earn millions of dollars in sales. The customer will often try to mimic the way a burger at their favorite fast food restaurant is put together at their own home and usually fail miserably!
The bread that is used, the exact spices that go into making them and the way they put the flavor deep into the chicken meat and the way they so perfectly place the right amount of lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles on the burgers is what makes or breaks a business. They are in it for the profit and if their burger or chicken sandwich don't make the customer happy, the customer will drop them like a hot potato.
We tried, I mean we really did. But there are ways to get a home made chicken or burger sandwich made at home that is really good to enjoy, but it takes a certain amount of expertise and desire to make that perfect burger. We often carry on about how a burger is not hot when we arrive home after the drive from the burger shack, and that is usually due to it being wrapped up in aluminum paper and the sweating that takes place that makes fries soft and burgers colder. The only way to enjoy a burger is to eat it the moment it is made. Not spend 30 minutes on the interstate driving home and re-heating it up in a microwave or inside the conventional oven on a cookie sheet.
If you have ever made that perfect burger, at home and you are among those who prefer it over the fast food places, let me know your secret so I can tell my wife. She might be wiling to give it try and make some home made burgers or sliders sometime at home. What is your secret to making the perfect home style burger or chicken sandwich?
For those of you who prefer fast food for the convenience of it and the speedy nature of it all, let me know why and what your favorite hot sandwich is and if you prefer it over home made.

Keep trying. I guarantee that the quality of beef that you use is going to be better than what you’ll get at fast food places. Find a spice blend you like and use that.
Making good hamburgers or cheeseburgers isn’t rocket science. I find that they are best made on an outside grill.

Mmm. That sounds really good. Spice up the meat, and cook it out on a grill. You make me want to go out and cook one this second. But I don't have a grill. I will have to save up for one so I can take the burger challenge this spring.

@NJChicaa I will try it in the spring. I still wonder what exactly is the best spice to add and for that matter, the best possible buns for it. Any ideas?

@lookatdesktop you won’t regret it. Homemade burgers straight from the grill are wonderful!

I'm one who is more inclined to believe that a well-cooked home meal is far better than those made in restaurants. For sure, you'll get the taste that you are looking for after some more tries.

Makes me wonder sometimes too. I have seen lots of goofy YouTubes that are all conspiracy theories about fast food and find them quite distasteful and fake.

Every weekends I usually grill chicken and pork barbeque and some burgers. Our recipe for burgers are quite simple,
2lbs Pork + 2lbs beef (ground)
Salt, white and black pepper,
White onions, celery and leeks (chopped)
Soy sauce, mustard, sweet ketchup, hotsauce
2eggs and grated cheese
Mix everything together make into balls and cover for an hour, put it in the fridge.
Heat grill and flatten a bit and grill until cooked.
(You can replace ground pork with a pound of ground or chopped bacon for more flavor)

That sounds really good. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I particularly like the added chopped bacon!
