I've had so much fun doing this countdown of my favorite record producers that I didn't even realize that we are already at #4: John Paul Jones. A multi-instrumentalist, John Paul Jones is best known as the bassist for Led Zeppelin. Jones has, however, collaborated with a multitude of bands, either as an arranger, a musician, or as producer. Among the albums produced by Jones are Children by The Mission, Independent Worm Saloon by the Butthole Surfers, The Road Home by Heart, Waterloo, Tennessee by Uncle Earl, Sara Watkins by Sara Watkins, and The Sporting Life by Diamanda Galas. Jones has also played on, or arranged, albums by Foo Fighters, Peter Gabriel, R.E.M., and Brian Eno, among others. What can I say? The man produced my favorite album, Children, from my favorite band, The Mission, and a great Butthole Surfers album. Yeah, he's on the list alright. (Led Zeppelin guy info verified by Wikipedia)
"Who Was in My Room Last Night?" is the opening track from American alternative rock band Butthole Surfers' sixth album, Independent Worm Saloon.

I saw him playing mandolin and fiddle with the Dave Rawlings Machine. I have a lot of Zep fans jealous of me for that.

@teamfreak16 -- it was small, and man, what acoustics. It was a converted movie theater from the early 1900s. Absolutely gorgeous decor.

@FourWalls - That was pretty awesome. I love the small, intimate shows like that.

This has a bit of a Ministry vibe to it with the way he sings. Oh and Ministry is supposed to have a new album out in March. Which is kind of funny, both bands came out in 1981. Really cool song buddy. Me loves.

His contributions are so evident on the Led Zep albums. Not only his bass lines but also his organ solos. He also collaborated with the folk-singer Donovan on some of his best known tunes.

What would have been sad, as many times as I've played it over the years, if I hadn't known it.
