When do you usually wake up in the morning?

Ever since my husband broke the house key in half when trying to get it out of the lock, he has been without keys to the house.
He used to leave for work without waking me up to lock the door. And he did it for many months. Guess he seemed okay with me sleeping when the door is unlocked.
It seems that's not the case anymore because recently he has been waking me up every day to lock the door when he leaves for work. It's good that he is doing that as it's not the best idea to sleep with the door unlocked, even if the community is safe. It's also a good idea because that gets me out of bed early. Of course, that doesn't mean that I don't go back to bed after I lock the door.
Today, he woke me up early as usual to lock the door. After he left, I decided that it was still very early and I went back to bed. My intention was to snooze until around 9-9:30 a.m. Next thing I know, it is almost noon when I open my eyes.
Argh! I hate when that happens. Waking up late makes me feel out of it and doesn't leave me with a lot of energy, not to mention that I am not exactly the happiest person. There is also less time in the day to do things.
I tell myself not to go back to bed after he leaves, yet I usually do the opposite and then end up waking up after ten in the morning. Not surprising because we always go to bed super late. But this has to change.

I usually get up around 10am as I don't go to bed until about 1-2am. I like to watch some shows on tv and then go on the computer. We are both retired so we have no set hours. After working all my life and raising children, I feel this is perfect. If I have to get up for some reason, I will. I use to get up to go to work at 2am to leave my house at 3am and started working at 4. That was my schedule for the last 8 years of working.

It's nice when you can just relax and not have to stress about work or worry about waking up on time.

Since I am retired I no longer have a usual time but I am trying hard to get into the habit of going to bed the latest 11 PM.
Will you be making another copy of the key?

It's a Mul-T-Lock key and so requires a card that came with the lock to make a copy. The locksmith is not allowed to make a copy without it. Though my husband's key that broke was made without the card surprisingly and thankfully.
We tried to make a copy without the card at a few places and each time we were told it can't be done without the card. We can try to go back to the guy that did his key before but I see no point in trying because I think we need to replace the lock.

I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night. It's because I gotta go pee. And since I am already up I go to the kitchen for a snack.
Milk and cookies, cereal, or milk and a pastry. Nothing too heavy.

Shouldn't you have another copy of the house key or get another one? We always have a few in case anything happens.
With the waking up part. Yet I never I have a set time. Sometimes I will wake up at 12am, 4am, today it was 10am, and sometimes even 3pm. It all depends when I go to sleep.

This is Mul-T-Lock and requires a Mul-T-Lock card (that came with the lock) to make a copy. They won't make a copy without it and we don't have the card. Though the key he had was made without it suprisingly. We could try to go back to the same lockmsmith that made the copy last time and see if he will do it again, but as my key doesn't always easily go in and out of the lock or turn for that matter (and same was with his before it broke) I think the best thing is to change the lock rather than try to make a copy.

@lovebuglena I really struggle with sleeping at night. No matter what, if I had a nap, if I haven't had a nap, if I eat or don't, I cannot sleep at night more than 3 hours.

I wake up by 7 am every day. I have set the alarm on my phone to wake me up by that time every day. On weekends, it wakes me up by 6:30 am. You could try exercising some control over the situation by setting the alarm on your phone to the time you want to be waking up. Slowly, your body would regulate itself to that time and you would not need the alarm anymore.

I had an alarm set to wake me up every day at 8 am. But usually, I just turned it off when it turned on and went back to sleep.

@lovebuglena When it strikes 8, get off the bed and do something to drive the sleep away. I usually check my email or do a little mylotting to force myself to stay awake. Sorry. Grins. I also allow mylot to make me have insomnia.

If I woke up at 5:40 am and I have done that sometimes, I would not feel full of energy.
