My Mom Doesn't Have Congestive Heart Failure

A few months ago I posted about how my mom's blood work indicated she might have congestive heart failure. She FINALLY got in to see a cardiologist and had a ton of tests, the last one being a procedure where they inserted a catheter through the artery in her wrist up into her heart to check for any blockages, and if they needed to they were planning on putting in a stent. Thankfully, there aren't any blockages, so she didn't need the stent. We are all relieved! So her heart is fine and the cardiologist thinks that her high blood pressure is causing her body to produce whatever protein it is that can be a sign of congestive heart failure. She is on medication to control her blood pressure and we are going to encourage her to change her diet and eat healthier. She found out about the procedure to check for blockages last minute -- she went in to get her stress test results on Wednesday and they wanted to do the surgery on Thursday morning. So she was freaked out and I was very scared for her, because the worst case scenario (besides death) was that it could turn into open heart surgery. I'm so glad that didn't happen. I want my mom to stick around for a long, long time and I'm very grateful that her heart is fine and that she made it through the procedure without any issues.

That is great news to hear and glad she made it thru the procedure fine. I have congestive heart failure and still pending my last surgery for it.

With my experience of taking care of people with high blood pressure is that if they slowly reduce the salt intake the numbers go down.

Yes, my blood pressure was borderline high a couple years ago and I reduced my salt intake, and now it is normal. My mom definitely needs to cut back on salt, and also start exercising (her cardiologist wants her to start working out.)

I am glad she has not congestive heart failure. Convince her to eat healthier, it is much better than medications.
