The best song of 1969 was “Gimme Shelter” by The Rolling Stones. It would figure that they would follow The Beatles who had the best song of 1968 “Hey Jude””. During the 1960s both of these bands were at the top and had millions of adoring fans.
This song was the opening track on their album Let It Bleed. It was written by lead vocalist Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards. “Gimme Shelter” became one of the songs they would always play in live shows. It was never released as a single.

I just read it. Actually what I am doing here is writing about the best songs of years past up to the present. They might not have been the top or most popular songs but they counted as the best songs of certain years. People just preferred certain songs to others. I like what that radio show is doing. @pgntwo
