Whenever we see historical Hollywood movies set in Roman empire. The statues are plain white. Well when archeologist found those statues, They look white, so when movies about the Roman empire were made, The statues are white. Guess what, on a documentary I was watching last night, Archaeologist and forensic experts found out those statues are actually painted. They are very colorful during their prime. They look plain white now because the paint faded. I guess next movies about the Romans should try to be accurate now and paint the props. I cant find links about the documentary so this article will be my source instead. Do you prefer the plain white statues or the painted ones?
Archaeologist Vinzenz Brinkmann insists his eye-popping reproductions of ancient Greek sculptures are right on target

Not only Roman statues had colors, also the Greek Statues were brightly painted, the ultraviolet light reveals how they looked.

The colored statues reminds me of the idols in catholic churches. These are like the T-rex, We thought its a scaly beast but its actually a fluffy feathery bird like lizard.

@CaptAlbertWhisker The statues of Saints in the catholic churches always stayed inside and they still have their colors.

The colors can't last long because of the weather. Getting white statues is what we all have come to be resigned to.

Thanks for sharing. Yes, I had heard that too that old statues from the Roman and even Greek periods were once quite colorful.

@CaptAlbertWhisker actually they should and they could save a lot of money. I can just predict a huge colorful plastic statue future for them
