Smells that make you feel ill

Most people love the smell of petrol but I detest it because it reminds me of being car sick when I was young. I got over it by the time I was 12 but I still can't bear to smell petrol. We used to go on long car journeys to get to our holiday locations as a family and I remember numerous times having to stop so I could be sick. It really was an unpleasant experience for me although I always enjoyed our holidays when we got there and tried not to think of the journey home. Is there any smell that turns your stomach and makes you feel ill?

@marlina I think it's probably the memory rather than the smell itself but it still turns my stomach

@JESSY3236 Yes some strong perfumes give me a headache. My mum always used to put too much on and it would make me feel ill.

@LadyDuck yes it's strange how a memory of an unpleasant experience can be brought back by a smell.

@sprite1950 Smells surely bring back memories. Some soap perfumes bring back memories of my grandmother home.

I hate the smell of milk that's really gone off. That seems to stay in my nostrils for hours.

Yes especially if it's been spilt somewhere and you don't know where. It just seems to get worse with time. I have known women who did revenge acts on their ex partners by spilling milk in their car. Imagine how bad that would be in an enclosed space, especially when it got hot

@asfarasiknow Yes. The worst revenge act I ever carried out is putting all my ex partners clothes out in the pouring rain, He didn't have a dry thing to wear! We're actually very good friends now

@sprite1950 I had no problems traveling when I was young and traveling coast to coast in the United States but when I went on a day trip with a group the bus ride was hard and I felt sick and could hardly wait to get back to Jerusalem and get small fresh air.

Travelling when you feel ill is the the worst. I'm alright most of the time now but if I have to go on a long journey I will still feel unwell.

@Hannihar Yes it's a dreadful feeling. I have always been afraid of vomiting in public. It would be so embarrassing but luckily it hasn't happened to me yet.

@sprite1950 It is funny I used to be able to travel but that one time I just did not feel good at all. It is very hard to travel when you do not feel good and cannot really stop to rest.

It is a very strong smell and can give you a headache if you are around the fumes for too long.

I like the smell of petrol. Southern Comfort, squished dog or cat poop, and puke are my nemeses.

Why Southern Comfort? Have you over indulged in the past?
