Applebee's – Tasty Food But Small Servings

Each week my foodie friend Josh and I hit another local establishment to sample the mainstream food but we certainly aren't going to leave out the small 'hole in the wall' places. Applebee's is a huge chain of overpriced restaurants but I really hate to use the “R” word because of their limited menu. They are comparable to Chili's, T.G.I.Friday's and Uno's.
I saw the Bourbon Chicken and Shrimp on the 2 / $25.00 menu and knew I wouldn't be satisfied if I got something else. The shrimp were small and there were only six of them; the chicken was a flattened breast and was perfectly cooked. With the deal you got to pick a free appetizer; I went with the boneless wings in a mild sauce. Wrong pick. It was so hot that my lips actually started to crack – something similar to chapped lips from wind exposure.
Add to the bill a coffee and my iced tea and the bill came to $38.76. Yea, I know, that sounds high right? Well, I am to blame. Since I didn't get any of the boneless wings due to the sauce I asked our server for an order of onion rings. I saw them on the menu and they looked amazing but when I saw the price on the bill I choked on my iced tea. One regular order of onion rings cost $6.49. I might go back if I had gift cards but if I am paying out-of-pocket I'll go some place with a larger menu and better prices.

I haven't been to an Applebee's since I moved away from Denver. Do they still sell the Veggie Patch Pizza?

Might just be your applebees.. i go few times a year to ours, and the sizes are good. And they have alot on the menus. Plus those 2 for 20 and 2 for 25 deals which not many other resturants, if any, are great when out with lots of people.

I've never been a fan of Applebee's. I did like their Weight Watchers menus 10-15 years ago, but they discontinued it.

I always get the shrimp platter at Applebee's and that was a generous portion at least when I was there.
