Favorite Robert Palmer Songs #7 - "Pressure Drop"

Occasionally, rather than a theme, I focus on a band or artist for a music series, and such is the case here, a countdown of my favorite songs by Robert Palmer. We are at #7: "Pressure Drop." "Pressure Drop" is the title track of Palmer's 1975 album, his second. Like his debut, Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley, Palmer was backed up by members of the band Little Feat. Robert Palmer had exquisite taste when it came to performing cover songs, and this reggae gem was no exception, a remake of The Maytalls' 1970 classic. The tune, as songwriter Toots Hibbert points out, is about Karma, metaphorically described as a "pressure drop" ("a storm is coming for you.") And while Palmer's version was not released as a single, it is a fan favorite, and was a definite highlight of the late vocalist's set when I saw him. What can I say? I've made my love of reggae no secret, so of course this is going to make the cut. I've linked to the album version. Enjoy! (Poetic justice info verified by Wikipedia)

I like how he kind of "gruffed up" his voice for this one.

Nice cover! Time to watch out for that barometric pressure Not to be confused with Billy Joel's "Pressure."
