The MyLot Music Hall of Fame - Judas Priest

I've been doing a part time series, inducting musical acts that are popular here on the site into The MyLot Music Hall of Fame. Today's inclusion has been used in numerous music discussions, by the likes of myself, @JolietJake, and @JohnRoberts. I'm talking about legendary heavy metal band Judas Priest. Ok, now that Judas Priest is in the MyLot Music Hall of Fame, let's talk about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What has the band done to justify inclusion? Well, since forming in West Bromwich, England, in 1969, they have sold over 50 million albums and played to about a gazillion fans. They have one of rock music's all-time great vocalists in the charismatic, commanding Rob Halford, and if they didn't pioneer the dual lead guitar attack, they certainly made it extremely popular: there was none better than Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing in the 80's, as far as I'm concerned. And simply put, they are one of the all-time great heavy metal groups. This despite a multitude of lineup changes over the years (did you know that Tipton and bassist Ian Hill have been the only full time members in the band's history? And Tipton is not even planning on accompanying them on their upcoming tour.) Judas Priest is, frankly, a highly influential group, and not just in the guitar twin department, either. All that leather that metal bands have been wearing since the 80's? Priest. (And it wasn't always that way. I saw early footage of the band on VH1. They were dressed like hippies! Rob Halford stumbled across a leather shop one day and the rest is history!) So welcome to the HOF, guys. Now let's get you into the real thing! I've linked to the band's performance of Fleetwood Mac's "The Green Manalishi" on Metal Day at the 1983 US Festival. It's awesome! (Metal God's info verified by Wikipedia)

I guess I can let go of that thought now.... Never my cup of tea, but I'll give them credit for being very good at what they do.

That was a Fleetwood Mac song?!? I don't even know what to say. Judas Priest really did a good job with it, and I had no idea it was a cover. I've always been fond of "Desert Plains".

Yes! It was the Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac (I like the Bob Welch era best.)

@spiderdust - At least they picked a great one. They could have waited and did "Second Hand News" or something (disclaimer: I've actually seen the Lindsay/Stevie era Fleetwood Mac in concert!)

@teamfreak16 You have no idea how much my world has been shaken with the discovery that Judas Priest covered a Fleetwood Mac song.

The name is totally fitting with their music style. Weird, considering that they took their name from a Bob Dylan song.
