Peace, acceptance, and unity is the theme of #2 in my countdown of my favorite Robert Palmer songs: "Every Kinda People."
Written by Free bassist Andy Fraser, who recorded his own version, but never released it. Palmer, however, somehow heard it and recorded it for his 1978 album, Double Fun.
Palmer's cover was his breakthrough, his first big hit in the United States, reaching #16 on the Billboard Hot 100, and charting in a total of six countries.
It has been covered many times, notably by Randy Crawford, Amy Grant, and Joe Cocker.
I've linked to an official video that features Palmer's message via numerous people of different ethnicity and styles.
Enjoy!

Me too. It could have been #1, but there is one that I like better.

Great song. Not my favorite on the album, though.....
(Holding my breath to see if that one makes the #1 spot.)

I know, it was a perfect song for him. I'm still bummed that he's gone.
