Favorite "Color" Bands #15 - Silversun Pickups

A few of us have done music series' involving songs with color in the title here on MyLot. I figured that it was high time to take it a step further, and celebrate my favorite bands with a color in their name. I'm going with 15, which is the number with which we begin: Silversun Pickups.
Alternative rock/dream pop band Silversun Pickups formed in Los Angeles in 2000, and were nominated for Best New Artist at the 52nd Grammy Awards (they lost to the Zac Brown Band.) At the moment, the band consists of guitarist/vocalist Brian Aubert, bassist/vocalist Nikki Monninger, keyboardist/guitarist Joe Lester, and drummer/percussionist Chris Guanlao. Aubert and Monninger are founding members.
(Fun Fact: Aubert and Monninger met during a flight after Aubert noticed Monninger stealing alcohol from the beverage cart!)
There are a few stories about how the band's name came to be. The most fun tale says that the band used to play a club called the Silverlake Lounge. A liquor store across the street was the source of many a late night booze run, which became known as a "Silversun Pickup."
Stealing alcohol from a cart, late night hooch runs, something tells me that these guys drink!

@teamfreak16 sounds similar to me to suddenly discover music you like. In the mid to late 1970s my teen girlfriends and I were crazy over David Cassidy. The only other music I really liked was oldies from the 1950s and 1960s. Then graduated high school and left teen idols behind. I still listened to Cassidy but suddenly there was Queen and the Four Seasons and so many I had let slide by and my music education had finally begun. That is why I enjoy posts like this because if I did miss something or I don't know about something I get to find out

I only discovered them about four years ago while listening to Pandora. I have yet to hear anything from them that I haven't liked.

I think I've heard them on Americana stations before. I listened to this and "Lazy Eye," and they're definitely familiar-sounding.

I used to have a strobe light in my room when I was a kid. I had a bunch of cool lights.

I'm not sure how big they actually are. Not one I expected many people to know, yet 8.5 million views on this particular video.

Yes, but was that good or what? I first heard them on Pandora about four years ago.
