My Options for Getting My Heart Under Control.

I saw my heart specialist yesterday -- the one my cardiologist refers to as the electrician. Her specialty is heart rhythms. She thinks I'm a good candidate for Catheter Ablation. This is a non-invasive procedure that involves putting narrow flexible wires into one of my blood vessels through a groin and getting them into the heart. The doctor uses a fluoroscope so see what she's doing. Electrodes on the tips of these wires map out my heart to find the location of the "short circuit" in my heart.
Once it is found the doctor cauterizes the tissue to destroy it. I would be partially sedated during the procedure, but then I would have to remain still for four to six hours afterwards before I could go home and then I would have to remain as still as possible the next day.
Even though I really liked the doctor, I'd like to avoid this if possible. I would like to explore some other possibilities that don't involve surgery before making a decision. One of these involves pressure points. I've already tried most of the other means of stopping the palpitations.
After we left the doctor's office, we stopped to shop at Costco. It was raining. My husband was driving his car. As we were trying to unload our cart after shopping, one of the boxes got stuck -- it was really too big to fit where they had placed it. As we struggled to get it out, one of us on each end, it kept jamming on the top of the cart. My husband made a final push and heard something in his shoulder snap. Someone passing by us helped me get the box into the car so we could go home.
I insisted we go home, unload the frozen food, and have something to eat before we went to our local ER. I honestly didn't think it would do much good. But Hubby was worried because of the snap. So we went. It was as I expected. The doctor there didn't see anything broken or easy to treat there. He told my husband to see his primary doctor to get a referral back to the orthopedic specialist. We were out of there in an hour and finally got home and out of the rain. I finished getting the rest of our purchases out of the car this morning after a temporary lull in the rain.
I've had my share of medical stuff this week. I have passed two of our hospitals to get to medical offices and then we were in the hospital ER last night. I would really like to stay away from medical offices and hospitals for a while.
I think our three days of rain is finally over. I hope the medical stuff is also over for a week or so. I need to work on getting taxes done. Is life interfering with what you are hoping to get done?

I'm going to try one more alternative after the taxes get finished -- alternative medicine.

At least Hubby is still mobile and can do almost everything but lift heavy things and raise his arms high and put is jacket on without help. I take the heart issues one day at a time. I had another minor episode today, but it went away quickly without an extra dose of medication. I want to keep him as healthy as possible.

@drannhh I was afraid that might be the case. No wonder you've been busy. I'm glad he stayed himself and was not in too much pain. None of us last forever, but he lived longer than most people do. I know you will miss him. Will we start seeing more of you here again now?

@allknowing Never heard of Alprax. I'm thinking of trying something to do with pressure points.

I hope you find a good option for your heart situation. I'm sorry your husband snapped something, and hope it will be okay soon. I can understand your not wanting to go near hospitals for a while. I hope it becomes reality for you. I hope you get your taxes done.

Sometimes it does. With my dad most especially. Our house was supposed to be renovated years before but our relatives always get in the way. So now that my parents had to deal with just two people, my dad was able to make a contract regarding these two relatives of ours. Now, the renovations have finally started. Praying that everything be okay with your husband and you. Keep us informed.

@bagarad youre most welcome, Barbara. Thank you, as well. My dad had a word with those two relatives and finally they stopped being such a pain in the butt. Have a great day to your husband and you, Barbara.

Here we call it catheterradiofrequency ablation. My brother in law who had rapid arrhythmia underwent the operation two years ago .The operation went well then and he has quite recovered now.

Hubby has to wait for approval to see a specialist. I feel good most of the time, and take one day at a time.

I'm sure there will be physical therapy ordered as soon as we see the specialist.

It's been a beautiful day today. The sunshine was almost blinding after the gray days.

@wolfgirl569 It's shining here today, too, with just a few fluffy white clouds to decorate the sky.
