Oh, my aching back. The good news is I now have a spotless bedroom to recover in!
While I rest up I'll give you another song on my list of favorites that have the word "big" in the title. Here's the next one.
#9: In a Big Country - Big Country
A few days ago JJ posted the first Bad Company album in his daily "vinyl madness countdown," and pointed out they were one of a handful of bands who just couldn't get over their own name: the album, the band, and the lead song on the album were all named "Bad Company."
Okay, Big Country wasn't that bad. This is technically called "In a Big Country," so it's not all that self-promoting. And ding, dang, doodle, this is a great song, so it doesn't matter!
This turned out to be Big Country's only US hit. That's sad. Even sadder is the fate of lead singer Stuart Adamson. With such a positive message in this song ("I can live and breathe and see the sun in winter time") you wouldn't expect the man who sang a song with a chorus that said "stay alive" to commit suicide, yet that's what happened, in 2001.
In a Big Country
Written by Stuart Adamson, Mark Brzezicki, Tony Butler, and Bruce Watson
Recorded by Big Country
From The Crossing, 1983

I never knew these guys were from Scotland? With a name like Big Country it brings to mind the wide open spaces of the Western U.S. Nice post, I learned something and yes, that song was a winner!!!

No lip sync? This is definitely a concert listening to. Some singers just pretend they were singing. Thanks a lot of sharing.
