the queen of flatlandia

My left foot is wet. Well, maybe not wet, maybe just moist. No, that word makes some people a tad squeamish. Damp? No, that maketh this young-old lady think of musty old houses with brown splodges on the ceilings and black splodges growing up the walls. I shall just settle with wet. My left foot is wet. There be rain in the outside. Quite a bit of it, if you will. Rain means clouds, which in turn means no beautiful sunrise to gawp at as the bus kindly transports me from Here to There. The bus has just climbed a hill. When we reached the summit, I thought again of how I want to live there. Just there, on that flat bit, just before the road begins winding down the other side. It's the only hill for miles, and from that point there, one can see almost the entire kingdom of Flatlandia spread out below. It's actually less of a hill and more of a mound. Come to Flatlandia, where even the speed bumps are hills! One day, when the post-apocalyptic world is finding its feet again after Putin gets so peeved he blows our socks off, I think I shall be Queen of Flatlandia. I shall live on the hill-mound, from whence I shall survey my kingdom and my minions. I'll be like that fiery, feisty wench Boudica-Boadicea-Buddug, but maybe a little more successful. I am rambling. And my left foot is still wet.

@poppylicious I would lay my cloak at thy feet to prevent wetness invading thy regal foot but it would cost a fortun getting it dry cleaned.

The future Queen of the post-apocalyptic Flatlandia desires no such chivalry, but when she conquers Ireland she will - of course - spare your life with kindness.

I was half-expecting that post to be a gas... it was no damp squib either

A hilltop abode sounds good to me - hope your feet are dry by the time I wrote this
Lovely sound of Peggy Lee from 1957 - The Folks Who Live On The Hill

My favourite hill song is The Fool on the Hill, and it may become my anthem in the post-apocalyptic world. :) {My foot finally dried out just as I got home at ten last night.}

No rain here, it's the third sunny day in a row, may be Spring is here. I live on a hill, there are higher hills and mountains around, but I can look down to the valley at our feet. I am not a fan of flatlandia.

@Poppylicious I could not live in a place "closed" inside high mountains, I am highly claustrophobic. It's very open where we live. I see the Alps in the distance, but I see miles away around me.

I love the wide open spaces. I do love mountains and hills too, but they tend to make me feel claustrophobic. I like to see what's occurring ten miles away. *smile*
