Do you listen to audio books? I am asking for a reason - I am considering putting some of my books that I have written into audio book format, and I am interested in knowing whether this would be worthwhile.
Incidentally, did you know that there is a massive collection of free non-copyright audio books available at

I've never been able to get into audio books for some reason. When I read books, I like to get completely lost and immersed in the story. When I'm reading, my imagination will take me into the story. But when I listen to an audiobook, I don't get that same effect. For some reason my imagination doesn't suck me into the story like it does when I'm reading.

I think it could be really worthwhile. I used to manage the book department at a Hastings Entertainment store, and even though we had a pretty small audio book section they were pretty popular with our customers. It seemed that I was placing orders for ones we didn't have in stock pretty frequently. Services like Audible seem to be quite popular, too.
I've never been able to get into them myself... I'm fairly sure I have some sort of auditory processing issue, because it seems like I can never really retain the things I hear as well as the things I read.

We haven't bought audio books but we have enjoyed listening to some we've picked up here and there or been given. They're good to listen to on car trips. Who would you get to read them?
