Do you like flying? I love flying, particularly the part that most people hate, take offs and landings. It's the fastest you will ever legally travel on land, and I guess underneath I'm a closet rev-head. If I had ever had sufficient money and time to do it, I would have loved to get a pilot's licence. However, I hate airports. The crush and pressure really frazzles me.

I also like flying because this is how I can arrive at the destination soon. I am not afraid of flying as I know some are worried about it. I still think it is safe.

Yes, I believe that it is still the safest method of travel there is.

I enjoy flying, but I wouldn't say I love it. It is better if you are not crammed onto a flight like a sardine. If I can find a cheap enough flight I might fly up to see my mother for mother's day..but not sure. I would kind of rather have a car while I am up there.

Yes, there are times when I would rather drive because I really need a car at my destination, and I don't like using rentals.

Airports quickly lose their charm don't they? I quite like flying although going to Ireland or England can seem like a very long time.

@lynnief Ohhh - that is just too long. Do you sometimes stay overnight somewhere along the way?

@JudyEv I haven't, but the last time I went to India the stupid travel agent lumbered me with a 12 hour stopover in Singapore. Fortunately I was able to organize through my contacts for someone to pick me up and take me home for a shower, a meal and a nap. Don't use that travel agent any more.

Last time I went to Kenya I worked out that by the time I had driven to the railway station, caught the train through to Melbourne, waited at the airport, flown to Perth, waited some more at the airport, then flown to Nairobi, the whole trip had been just over 30 hours.

I have not flown in years and have no desire to.
