A good follower makes for a great leader. You can actually be both.

Some people make good followers, others make good leaders. But we usually start off in life as a follower, of our parent's instructions, our teachers and the law of the land. Then the higher law, of God or whoever a person believes is their higher power, be it a concept of higher intelligence in the greater universe or a leader of a country or a person you may idolize, The higher law is key to our growth. If we can follow a leader but also lead others who are not yet as experienced as we are, we stand in the middle between those who follow us and those who lead us. Big brother and big sister look after the younger siblings but the Mother and the Father are always of the highest power in the household. The key to being both a good follower and later becoming a great leader is being able to learn from experience and share that experience in a broader way. Sometimes leaders abuse their power and treat their followers like dirt. That is a bad thing. It is not leadership when this happens. The leader must first respect his followers under his authority or direction. If not, this leads to a breakdown in the structure of social development and leads everyone down a road to ruination. If a leader starts off respecting his parents or guardians as a young person and grows up to show proper respect to those who depend on him as a leader, then they will do well as followers and one day some of them will become great leaders and teachers and set a good example for future generations. Good night. Lecture is over. I am finished for the day.

Kings are seldom good leaders. They are usually in the role for other reasons.
You make some good points here. Thanks for the read. What are the true roles of followers and leaders? God picked various leaders to act for him, as noted in the Christian Bible, as he knew their hearts, but why do the masses need such leaders at all? ”Long live the king,” people might well say, but the king is never a leader, but just a figurehead, with real leaders under him. This means that true leaders are not born to rule, but to lead others the right way through life, and so they have a different role than which kings do. The only time you can become a good leader is when you learned to be a good follower. You will only understand what your followers are going thru when you had become one. Leading by example and being humble makes a good leader all the more admirable.
