My first experience with a vending machine

I had only read it in comics about vending machines being there in foreign countries for everything under the sun. Archie and Veronica always were seen around wending machines waiting for their favourite goodies.
When I got an opportunity to travel abroad I saw a vending machine at a hotel where we were staying in Rotterdam. My happiness was boundless. I asked someone to help me operate it and out came a load full of candy.
This was years ago and now we see those machines all over the place in India.

I suppose the West starts anything and the others follow (lol)
That will be risky buying gold through a vending machine atleast that is what I feel.

@garymarsh6 Investing is good if that is converted to liquid at the appropriate time Most keep it and take it to their grave,

@allknowing I think they are popular in the middle east where they tend to buy lots of gold. Imagine a few years ago gold was selling for £6 an ounce. Today that same ounce would cost you around £33 so its quite a good investment!

@toniganzon Thanks for bringing that to my notice in a rather subtle way. I have edited my post.

I've never heard of wending machines but I've heard of vending machines all the time and see them everywhere here. I don't think there is a wending machine at all. Unless it's something you and I totally see differently.

I only read about these in Archie comics and you can understand my excitement when I could do it myself

I like those vending machines back when I was younger. But now, my beloved little kiddos are fascinated at it. It never hurts to be a kid sometimes.

There are plenty of those machines in certain places but I rarely use any. For example at public toilets there are often vending machines to buy sanitary products, contraceptives and disposable toothbrushes, and sometimes other things such underwear or nylon tights. The items are always much more expensive than if you bought in the usual places so only for emergencies (and luckily I have never had such an emergency!)
They are also often in places like sports centres, budget hotels and some workplaces selling sweets and snacks like drinks and packs of crisps - again expensive and I don't always trust them not to take your money and not return the item you want!
