I was shy as a kid, but something happened to me the day I gave my life to Jesus Christ. The bold button turned on in my life. I'm still an introvert/shy about meeting new people, and I don't have a lot of friends, but I value the friends I have.

Hi Val, I didn't see your answer when I was here last week. In fact, I'm now wondering if this is the post I visited since I don't see my response now. But, I want to say that this is when I feel that I lost my overly shy behavior, too. When I was introduced to Biblical truths. I had already believed in God and Jesus, but hadn't known to study the Bible until I was 26. It was at that time that much of my shyness disappeared.

@just4him I think I was a Christian before that time in my life, but was never taught about it. I also do think I began to change my focus on myself and thinking everyone was looking at me when I was a bit younger. I've thought since that may be about the time I got born again, but never being taught about it, I won't know for sure until we get to heaven.
Even though my focus changed about then, it wasn't until I was older that I began reaching out more.

I am also shy. But in some times, I force myself not to be so. You know it is not good. When I was looking for the job, this problem took the chances away. So you should overcome it. Maybe you can read more books. You can broaden your horizon in this way. It will make you more confident to communicate with others.

I'm not shy but my sister was painfully shy as a child. I didn't understand then but I do now and wish I had been more sympathetic as she found it hard to make friends too. I don't know how old you are but I have found that confidence grows as you get older. I'm sure it won't always be like this for you.

@dya80dya Well that is still young, Give it a few more years and you will feel better about yourself. Some people prefer those that are shy and quiet.

I have been shy at times but on the most part I am not shy. I hope this place will help you with your shyness. I do not have a lot of friends these days outside of My Lot in the real world. What you can do here is if you do not feel comfortable posting a discussion then ease yourself into My Lot by go into other posts and when you want to respond.

Used to be very shy and quiet and now I am quite the opposite of what I was.
I think looking for jobs one after the other pulled me out of that shyness and made me bolder than what I was.

In my mid-30s I trained in public speaking and also became a stand up comedian but that hasn't stopped me from being a very shy person everywhere else. All I can say is that it gets a little easier the older you get. It's not a fault, it's just the way we are.
