Silly Question: “Are they in love?”

While having a class, my students and I are having pronunciation drill. When we had practiced the word “love” with a photo, I was quite surprised asking a follow-up question: “Are they in love?” I find it weird to ask a primary level child with such question. “Is that how advance children are?” It was a suggested question during the class. I had learned “puppy love” when I was in high school. “Am I a late bloomer?” “Am I suggesting the child be in love at a young age?” “is it right to ask such question to a child?”

No. I think they know more than they are letting on.

They use their computers, they see the TV, they know a lot more than we did in the past.

I agree. They are too exposed to modern gadgets.

@Shavkat This is also what I think, they should spend more time playing outside.

@LadyDuck I agree. That's the reason why I let my little niece play outside and join her.

this new generation of children already know something about love, more so, about that s_x thing that is why there are many teenage pregnancies. i think they do not know puppy love, but just amorous love with body contact. but only to some huh?! not all kids do that

I had seen some teens do that, too. That's why I find it weird to have such lecture type online. It is quite alarming.

@ridingbet I agree. They tend to be so irresponsible and unaware of such medical condition.

I think it is fine then. We just need to be careful in explaining it.

i think "puppy love" is a 90's kids thing. Kids today call themselves millennials. They do weird things that old-fashioned folks can not understand.

You have a point. Millenial kids are quite different nowadays.
