A happy and blessed Easter Sunday to us all, my friends, how are you?
I and my sister went to church to attend mass at 9:30AM. There were so many things I observed while in church and outside.
As usual, I and my sister went to a famous food store to buy our lunch for take-out. There is a priority lane for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women. My sister stayed next to a senior woman, but on the fourth place is a young woman.
Then there came a senior citizen. She went directly in front of the queue and wanted to have her orders taken. I informed her that the end of the line is after the old woman in printed blouse. Then this lady in the 4th place told this woman to stay in front of her, like, inserting her between the 3rd and herself. I said to the young woman, “How could you do that? There are other senior citizens waiting in line behind you, and this woman came and you want her ahead of the rest?”
The other senior citizens also raised their voices to this young lady. She blushed after. The woman said, “I am just counting what number I am. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven”.
Then she went up, and called her family to transfer to another food store. We smiled.
There are really some senior citizens who grow not older, but backwards to childhood. A woman said, “We should act our age; the younger generation will not respect us anymore if we do what we want to do.”

I agree with you, Ingrid. Some take advantage of the fact fhat they are seniors and they can get away with anything.

yes, seniors should be treated with respect but they should also treat us right. they should not abuse the privilege given to them by the younger people.

@mlgen1037 that is so true. some seniors here in my city are so proud that they want to be at the first in a queue. but there are some younger people who are also 'pasaway' that they do not show respect to the older people, especially those who are not well-off, or poor.

@ridingbet and they get mad when they are being told. It should be give and take because the younger people are giving them respect.

Well, some senior citizens are insensitive. Sometimes I want to scold them especially when they taking advantage in taxi waiting area. Anyway, my day so far is doing great and relaxing. Have a nice day.

you too. even while waiting for taxi, there should be a designated queue for them, or for every passenger, a senior citizen. that is a good idea. (we use that in some barangays here in my city)

sad to say, nowadays, you really have to speak up in situations like that. because once someone does, the rest will start to speak up and object, too.

yes, because if we don't speak up, we will be stomped over by those who think they are superior over us.

I just put the kids' baskets together. It's nearly 11pm here, so I'll be going to bed soon.
It's good that the people who didn't want to wait in line decided to go elsewhere!

yes indeed. this woman felt frustrated because she was not allowed to squeeze herself in the queue

@spiderdust the other senior citizens behind the 4th lady were all disgusted; good thing she and her family left.

Seen this happen too many times as well. I know that everyone will eventually get old but old age isn't an excuse to cut the line.

that was also my question why she was 'misplaced' in the priority lane. a young lady was in the line and when i said 'this is the priority lane, she transferred to another queue. the lady did not want to leave her post since 3 more and it should be her turn now.

@rheicel good for you, but here in the city, there are many more senior citizens who are so hard-headed and 'pasaway'.

@ridingbet Maybe she didn't understand what a priority lane is.
I encountered many times grumpy senior citizens but I just ignored them then after that they're gonna smile so I have no choice but to smile back also. Hehe.
