My cupboard is bulging at the seams with photo albums

I am at a loss to know what to do with those albums. The interest to go through those albums is waning. Neither do those guests show any interest unlike in the good old days when they would spend hours over them. I have tried to digitise them but it will be difficult to have them all in my digital folder - that's a lot of work. A tough job but I will have to do that so that I can just chuck those albums to the fire. I will take me days may be months.

I would save the photos of parts of your life that gave you the most pleasure from the time you were a child in a special album. Don't forget the people who meant the most to you. When my mom was about to die of cancer, she got much pleasure from using those albums to remember the best parts of her life and all the people she loved. Our memories can get dim toward the end of life and we may not always feel up to using a computer. Seeing our life in photos can bring the good memories back and help us review our lives.

I am with you on this but sorting is not easy when I have loads of albums also in my digital folder.

@bagarad In the good old days my albums were in great demand. Most guests would ask for them ans spend time with them but not any more. Family is least bothered (lol) Fair enough as I too am not eager to look at their albums

Did you ever have to sit through hours of someone showing off their holiday slides - in the days before digitisation? It's nearly as bad now having to watch dozens of digital images. We've come to realise it's only us that really enjoy looking at our photos. After the first dozen they are pretty boring to anyone else.

I got your message. Yes just get rid of them - sad but it has to be that way

@allknowing We haven't got rid of them but I'm trying to scan them as some are fading and will disappear altogether soon.

Scanning them will lower the photo quality so don't throw out any you really like as if you ever decide to print them again they won't look as nice. I love looking at photos. It has been years since I have printed any though as I store everything online now.

I have to take a decision either way as there are many albums which need attention.

Sort them and scan the photos you really want to keep. Then you can decide what to do with them. If you dont recognize anyone in a picture just toss it that will thin them down some.

I see too how the interests of people have changed. Our family photos are precious only for us.

And these days digital photos are there by the thousands just languishing in the digital folders.
