I love and miss them

26 years ago my grandparents on my dad's side passed away. I've never forgotten and I'll never quit hurting over this. It's a hard day, always. So to ease the pain that we all feel today I told my parents we should go somewhere good out to eat today. Therefore later we are going to Texas Roadhouse. I remember a lot of things from this date 26 years ago. It's so funny to be bothered about I guess - not that my grandparents died, that makes sense to be upset about, but that this date should continue to bother me. It isn't the same year, after all. That year came and went - and we don't need to live through that again, ever. Also the weather was 100% different, as were we all due to life circumstances. How do you deal with difficult dates? So sorry for you loss. I understand the still hurting, and it always being a hard day. To me, time doesn't heal wounds. It only makes you find ways to cope. I have two hard days coming at the end of the month, and I'm not ready for them. Though, I never know how I'll be (sad, angry, okay, crying - wise) til those days are here.

Thank you dear. Yes, you are very right. Time doesn't heal anything. Changes things maybe, but doesn't heal. *groan* sorry that you have 2 tough days coming up. I hate that. I found that having something small to look forward to on the day (going out to eat) helped....

@Courtlynn Yes. Not to belittle people, but I think those that say "time heals..." haven't been through any serious trauma. Hard times, sure... but majorly tough stuff? Likely no. Oh so sorry for your losses. So young when you lost your cousin and time is never time enough with our grandparents/great grandparents. I'm happy you got to know your great grandma, though. I got to know 1 of mine. I hope the days go by with a minimum of pain this month and I will keep you in my thoughts

I am a very forgetful person so the days, weeks and months just fly past without me noticing. I try to turn up to work on the right day though. A month or so ago, I forgot my favorite penpal's birthday. I felt so uncomfortable when I remembered suddenly.

I look at cards and old photos. I visit my mom's gravesite and talk with her. It never gets easy but to remember our love ones is to honor them...

Lovely quote. You have a talent for finding the right quote for the right occasion. I'm sorry for your loss. I know my dad will discuss with his parents, in his case I don't know if it hurts or helps him. He talks about wishing they could reply. Maybe I should try. Thank you my friend.

@dgobucks226 I believe that is possible, that our loved ones still guide us. My grandma and I have a thing with pennies. Just we can't get replies in the usual way....

@FayeHazel Your welcome I believe my Mom is listening and is somehow guiding me in her special way. I guess in a way that is a reply.

Sometimes I think my pain has been muted, and then one particular day it comes roaring back. I am so sorry your pain is still so fresh.

Oh no. Those roaring back moments are tough. I had a period of years where it wasn't as vibrant of pain.... and now a period of years where it feels very fresh. Thank you dear.

I'm sorry for your pain in the loss of your grandparents. Some things you never get over, especially when you love someone as much as you loved your grandparents.

Sorry for your loss. It's really hard to deal with difficult days all we can do is to pray ask to give us the strength to ease the pain.

I'm so sorry. That is very hard to deal with. I'm not sure how you believe, but I like to think they are still there , on a different plane.
