Favorite "Door" Songs #2 - "Knocking at Your Back Door"

It's been a couple of tumultuous weeks here at Team Freak Headquarters. I just spent a good week and a half in a VA hospital in Denver with a vicious bout of the flu, but life goes on, as does my countdown of my favorite songs with "door" in the title. We left off at #2: "Knocking at Your Back Door" by Deep Purple. By 1984, Deep Purple had not released an album in nine years, and it had been 11 since the classic lineup of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, vocalist Ian Gillan, bassist Roger Glover, keyboardist Jon Lord, and drummer Ian Paice had put out new material. So it was a bit of a surprise when that lineup came roaring back with one of their most successful albums, Perfect Strangers. "Knocking at Your Back Door" was the leadoff track to that album, and the second single released from the record. Written by Blackmore, Gillan, and Glover, the risque tune was purportedly about anal sex, and contains sexual innuendo abound. Nonetheless, the song received massive airplay, although it did not perform particularly well on the charts, stalling at #61 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #65 in the UK. The single fared better on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, where it reached #7. Oddly, the old Seattle Supersonics NBA team used to use the song as their entrance music during player introductions. I've linked to the official video, which makes absolutely no sense.
