It's Just A Game

Their's nothing wrong with being a sports fan. Actually, it can be quite fun to root for your favorite professional sports team. However, some fans take wanting their team to win way too seriously. They need to chill out! It's just a game, after all. I mean, if your favorite sports team wins championships, is it going to really make your life that much better? Take me, for instance. I've been a fan of the NFL's New England Patriots for years. And when they won the Super Bowl five times, I was glad that they were victorious. But it didn't make my life better. So if your a sports fan, go ahead and root for your favorite team. But keep it in perspective. Don't get too crazy about it.

I used to take sports seriously. I lightened up over the years. I am still a huge sports fan but now I just watch them with friends at a local sports bar.

@MainerMikeBrown Thanks. I used to watch sports when I lived in the United States but now I do not get into sports at all.

I can remember growing up with a father who loved hockey and as we just had one TV at the time, we watched hockey with him or read a book. I swore that I would never marry anyone who liked hockey. I thought that would be enough. I should have asked my fiance at the time if he liked sports but as he was English, I thought that I was safe. Should have asked. He likes English football about as much as my dad liked hockey!!

Exactly! We have our favorite teams, but when they lose, we don't let it ruin our lives. There is always next year.

I can certainly agree with you here. Boy, some people are just nuts about it. And yes, at the end of the day—and I am a Packers fan—if the team wins or loses, it does nothing at all for me personally except to be happy when they win and disappointed when they lose...but other than that there is no direct impact whatsoever.

Yes I agree. My in-laws are big Spurs fans and I think they take it too far. If their team is not winning they blame it of the referees or on something else and they are upset until their team wins again. I don't understand how the team you like can ruin your day.

I am not into any sports so I do not get crazy about them.
