It all started with Riverdale, A Tv series that is a reboot of the teen comics and cartoons Archie. Archie is known for it's iconic theme song Sugar and though I am a 90's kid, I remember syndication of Archie being aired on tv. I remember it's a comedy teen cartoon about a red head teen boy named Archie who is in a love triangle with a ditzy blonde named Betty and a sassy brunette named Veronica.
Suddenly CW rebooted Archie and made it into a dark murder mystery show titled riverdale and it became a hit.
Because of that Hollywood decided to make dark reboots of comedy cartoons.
I remember Sabrina Teenage witch is a cartoon that got adapted into a sitcom in the 90's starring Melissa Joan Heart. The show us about a fun loving teenage girl named Sabrina who is a witch, she have a talking Black cat and the show is hilarious. Hollywood is now going to reboot this comedy into a horror series.
Oh there is also an upcoming horror movie adaptation of Scooby doo. I heard it will be a Zombie Apolypse one.
Recently there is also a depressing drama comics of Flintstones and it is not fan made. It is an official legal one.

They also change etncities and sexualities of characters as a way of saying their reboots are edgy.

It is the cancer that started these gritty reboots.

I do not think I am going to watch any of those reboots. They do not sound good at all.

for some unknown reason teenagers loves them but they have no idea the source material is not gritty and dark. Can You imagine a post apocalyptic dark adaptation of Frasier or Golden girls.
