a sprung spring

What do I wear when the weatherman jovially exclaims that it's going to be the hottest day of the year* so far? Why, I wear exactly what I wear in the winter months, silly, albeit without the coat and with Converse on my feet rather than DMs. Although the latter is simply for comfort and pain appeasement more than style, a student did excitedly say, Look at Poppylicious, rocking those leopard print Converse! I am down with the kids, dontcha know. Incidentally they're not really leopard print. I'm not Kat Moon**. They are grey and sparkly, with a hint of leopard print style as a pattern. Also, they have {grubby} pink ribbons for laces. Actually, I've just glanced down at my toes and they are more leopard print than I thought. Maybe I am Kat Moon. Oh, the indignity. The world through the kitchen window this morning was a disgusting orange-y pink, like an artist had mixed his paint incorrectly. He appears to have rectified this now, but the potholes he has created seem bigger than yesterday and I'm quite sure that telegraph pole shouldn't be leaning at that angle. I just saw an owl! In the sunny morningtime! I am easily excited by the little things in life. But let's return to the clothing situation with which this post began, before my mind went all off-kilter and found tangents. I do not trust that Spring has truly arrived. I've seen how it's been acting in north America, teasing with sunshine and then filling the world with cold white stuff. I will not be caught out! Of course, I haven't yet changed my wardrobe from Winter to Summer, which probably accounts for it too. *smile* * I don't know if the weatherman really said this, I'm just assuming. ** A rather chavtastic middle-aged character from Eastenders, a London based soap opera.

They announced a week with temperature above the average, almost summer like. I am not sure how to dress, I have not yet put away the winter clothes and I am not sure it's the right thing to do.

@Poppylicious We had Sahara dust last Sunday, most of the cars are covered with this yellow/reddish dust. I am glad our car was in the garage.

London is supposed to be one of the hottest places in Europe this week. That will be summer done and dusted after next week then!

@LadyDuck Disappointingly, we didn't get that dust. We do most years. I know it's a pain but it's so much prettier than the Flatland dust which generally lives on most cars in my neck of the woods.

The owl was very lovely. I was surprised to see it in the daytime.

@Poppylicious Nice. They are usually out in the dark so that is indeed surprising.

I wouldn't have wanted to be wearing winter clothes today - it was 27 degrees. Amazing for April. I got your Kat Moon reference but you lost me with 'Converse', Are they some sort of trainers?

Well, not trainers as such. I'd say they were more like plimsolls. They're quite an old brand.

@poppylicious Isn’t it such a nightmare deciding what wear when seasons are changing. My wife’s exhausted from it and it often takes her till bedtime to decide what she should have worn.

My problem with choosing what to wear usually stems from how fat/bloated/pretty/sociable/quirky I feel, rather than the weather, although that does - of course - play a minor part. :)

* The weatherman (or woman actually) did indeed say this! I will only believe it when i see it. Or should that be feel it?? Whatever you do, don't change to your summer wardrobe. That would only be the catalyst for snow!!!
