One of those days

Yesterday was definitely "one of those days." I work as Funding Manager for a charity, which basically means I write grant applications. I had an application to work on that was due by Monday - but since I only work Thursdays, this was my last chance to do it. It was an eight-page online form, and I faithfully worked my way through it right up to the last question. Then, when I clicked the "Next" button to go to the "Submit" page, it booted me off. I lost everything I had put in.
Mumbled some bad words, took a deep breath, and started again. Worked my way again through the eight pages. Got to the final question, clicked "Next" to go to the "Submit" page, and it booted me off again.
Mumbled some worse bad words. Called the organization offering the grant. They were less than sympathetic. "We have had other submissions come through ok, so it isn't the web site. It must be a problem at your end."
Hung up (politely.) Mumbled still worse bad words. Took an even deeper breath and launched again. Went into a process of "Do one page. Save for later. Enter email address. Wait for email with the link to resume. Click link to resume. Rinse and repeat." Eight times over. Finally reached that dreaded last button and clicked it with trepidation. Yay!!!! it went through.
The upshot of all this was, instead of getting away from work at 1.30 or 2 at the latest, as I had hoped, so that I could go get a haircut and do some shopping before a 4pm appointment, it was actually closer to 3.30 when I left the office. No haircut. No shopping. Late for 4pm appointment.
If we end up not getting this grant, you will hear my scream from whatever part of the world you may be in.

Isn't it odd that things happen like this? We have had sites not recognize or accept what we submit. Never can figure out what the reason is for such things.

Yes, the joys of the internet age. Fantastic when it works; infuriating when it doesn't.

That sounds very frustrating! I had something similar happen to me, although I wasn't at work. I was trying to order some things from a site and the checkout process seemed needlessly complicated. When I finally hit submit to order, all I got was a blank page.
I didn't know whether the order went through or not, so I emailed them and of course, had to wait until they answered the next day. No, no order, so I tried it again and it happened again.
I gave up and figured if it went through, fine, and if it didn't, I didn't want their stuff anyway!

This is so annoying. We have so much trouble with Centrelink and MyGov websites. They drive us to distraction sometimes. And sometimes there are no other options but to keep trying. I'm glad your application went through eventually.
