Kids can't have best friends anymore?

I was watching the news tonight and there was a story about a school in Massachusetts that is banning the students from calling someone their best friend. Sometimes I want to shake my head at the way this world is going but maybe this is a good thing for todays and tomorrows generations? What do you think?

Strange. Is this because others might make others feel left out? But that's so ridiculous. I can think of other choice words that students shouldn't be calling anyone!!

@TimBurWrites I just don't think this is the way to handle it. Perhaps it'd be better to teach kids to be more inclusive of others or something like that.

Yes, just saw another story on it and that is the case. They don't want to offend other kids who can't make friends.

I live in MA and haven't heard of this.. This would just be stupid. No reason kids can't have bestfriends.

It was on Nbc Nightly News. Nice to know I'm not alone in seeing how crazy it sounds!

@TimBurWrites it's definitely crazy, and stupid, and unfair to the kids. Though, if it does become a thing.. I'm sure some kids will still do it.

It's so sad but it's coming to reality.Maybe the new generations just doesn't have best friends. Kids nowadays, or even some adults are hooked with digital technologies with little human interactions.

I think it is weird. Perhaps they can use best pal or buddy. Is it included in banning these, too?

@TimBurWrites I think English words are becoming mutant these days. I am just joking. I had seen some words that are being used before and now, they are accepted.

This makes absolutely no sense. What is the reasoning behind this rule? Our lives are being legislated entirely too much.

To not offend those who can't make friends.

@TimBurWrites I think this is a greater insult to legislate friendship. This sends the message, to those who have trouble making friends, that something is wrong with them and since they are incapable of making friends, the "desirables" will be punished. Why not help kids with their social skills and teach them what real friendship is? Why not teach them that they are not defined by their friends but in the fact God created them unique and wonderfully? I sure am glad my husband and I homeschool instead of letting the government controlled schools screw up our kids. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but this breaks my heart for all the kids affected by this. This is gonna mess them up socially and emotionally.

The way people act maybe it is best not to let anyone know who your best friend is. Everyone does need a best friend.
